The Leelanau Ticker is back with a look at the most alarming, offbeat, or otherwise newsworthy calls to the Leelanau Office of Emergency Management/911 dispatch. The following is excerpted from the August 27 to September 2 call reports.

2:46pm 8/27/2024 Animal Control Centerville Twp., Yesterday caller secured a puppy in the Cedar area. Has the dog. Black with a white mark on its neck, no collar. 

3:47pm 8/27/2024 Info Elmwood Twp., Reporting two males driving through the neighborhood drinking beer. He does not know who they were. Pickup truck. Patrol info only.

7:08am 8/28/2024 Citizen Assist Cedar, Wife slipped from the chair and is on the floor. Not injured, just sitting there. 

12:26pm 8/28/2024 Info Northport, Someone knocking at door at 2am. Happened twice in last year. Heard male voice yelling. He left so she didn’t call. Just wants it logged– was advised to call when it is happening. 

7:51pm 8/28/2024 Suspicious Incident Northport, Caller working at ice cream shop, female came in and advised her dog got hit by a car. Dog is alright but car left the scene. Red truck with trailer. Speaking with female, she advised that the truck almost hit her while she was crossing the street, her dog did get hit. Suspect described as white male, medium build, wearing gray sweatpants and jeans.

3:32pm 8/29/2024 Suspicious Incident Suttons Bay Twp., Man was there outside when a customer’s dog approached him. He was scared of the dog and pulled out a knife apparently to defend himself if necessary. He was asked to leave and departed in a black Ford with a female driver. 

6:43pm 8/29/2024 Animal Control Maple City., Saw an Australian Shepherd, about 50 lbs, mixed colors, tried to catch it but it was real skittish.

3:54pm 8/30/2024 MDOP Lake Leelanau, Caller is reporting two males, one on dirt bike and one on 4-wheeler. Tore up yard last night. Does not know who the subjects are. They drive up and down the road constantly. 

9:29am 8/31/2024 Suspicious Vehicle Glen Arbor, Burgundy mustang with black door. Driving up and down the road while caller was jogging. 

3:36pm 8/31/2024 Suspicious Incident Northport, Caller came home to find her grandson’s electric truck missing from front porch, and the dog that was inside when they left, was outside. 

10:04pm 8/31/2024 Citizen Assist S West-Bay Shore Dr., Caller is reporting that his neighbors are coming onto his property at night and putting nails on his driveway. 

10:51am Fire Smoke E Grandview Rd., Request Fire Department to speak with him because he is upset that the DNR is allowing burning during a drought. 

11:16pm 9/2/2024 Road Hazard S West-Bay Shore Dr., Tree blocking southbound lane, branches extending into northbound lane. Tree removed by passerby.
