The Leelanau Ticker is back with a look at the most alarming, offbeat, or otherwise newsworthy calls to the Leelanau Office of Emergency Management/911 dispatch. The following is excerpted from the August 13 to August 18 call reports.
4:30pm 8/13/2024 Harassment Leelanau Cty., Someone was threatening caller’s wife but it was a prank call– has the person’s number.
11:09am 8/14/2024 Suspicious Vehicle S West-Bay Shore Dr., Two vehicles parked next door that are suspicious, been parked there for several days and it appears each has someone living in it.
2:21pm 8/14/2024 Obstruction Suttons Bay Twp., Witness tampering.
4:50pm 8/14/2024 Trespassing E Bingham Rd., There is a man that walks on their lawn, when asked not to, he flipped her off and said he can walk wherever he wants. Would like to see law enforcement as this has happened before with him and is feeling threatened.
2:56pm 8/15/2024 Suspicious Incident Cedar Twp., Says some youths were trying to steal her paddle boards but she yelled at them and they took off. Then some other youths trespassed on her property, urinated and stole golf balls. Would like to speak with law enforcement.
12:49pm 8/16/2024 Trespassing Lake Leelanau, Neighbor tore up 30 trees that were on his property, caller wants them trespassed.
11:06pm 8/16/2024 Citizen Assist Elmwood Twp., Caller was at the park with her daughter who was playing with another child. Caller noticed later that money was missing from her purse.
6:33pm 8/17/2024 Suspicious Incident Suttons Bay Twp., Blue moped, caller doesn’t have the plate, female driver with blonde hair and a female passenger who tried to run her off the road.
7:54pm 8/18/2024 Trespassing Leelanau Twp., Caller reporting a trespasser on his property. Says he is there right now, fishing on a private lake.
8:05pm 8/18/2024 Trespassing Leland, Two teenagers are at abandoned house parting, have backpacks. Caller advised this is an ongoing issue.
3:08pm 8/19/2024 WC Disabled Leelanau Cty., Looking out into bay, people waving in boat, looks like they are in distress. Rough waters, power boat, unknown color. Off end of coal dock, cannot tell how far out.
4:06pm 8/19/2024 WC Capsize Leelanau Cty., Catamaran on its side, struggling. 1 person in water, maybe 2. No other vessels in the area. One person in water has PFD. Occupant standing on side attempting to upright. Occupant has boat upright, everyone is accounted for.
