The Leelanau Ticker is back with a look at the most alarming, offbeat, or otherwise newsworthy calls to the Leelanau Office of Emergency Management/911 dispatch. The following is excerpted from the July 3 to July 8 call reports.

6:38am 7/3/2024 Animal Control Suttons Bay Twp., Caller reporting his dog has been out all night, husky, ongoing issue. He has advised the neighbors because the dog goes after the chickens. Caller needs assistance catching him. On arrival, dog was in the yard and was captured.

11:59am 7/3/2024 Leave Scene MVC Cedar, Yukon, gray black Chevy pickup says man hit him while getting gas, was verbally abusive and took off in an older black chevy pickup. 

12:48am 7/4/2024 Welfare Check E Traverse Hwy., Caller advised that her friend called her and told her he fell and is bleeding but does not want help. Made contact with the male and they do not see any need for medical attention.

1:30pm 7/4/2024 Citizen Assist Empire Twp., Says he has separated from his wife, concerned for their child. 

2:45pm 7/4/2024 Citizen Assist Empire Twp., Son at the bottom of the bluff. Silver minivan. Kid made it back up.

12:52am 7/5/2024 Missing Juvenile Lake Leelanau, Kids are messing around in the orchard across from caller.

1:23am 7/5/2024 Citizen Assist Cleveland Twp., Caller is not from the area, she advised she needed to leave a party and now doesn’t have a ride. Also her phone is almost dead and cannot call a cab.

3:12pm 7/5/2024 Citizen Assist Northport, Caller found a 5 year old wandering the sidewalk.

1:44pm 7/6/2024 Family Trouble Leelanau Cty., GTB10 called out enroute for family trouble.

4:21pm 7/6/2024 Info Eaton Cty., Having trouble charging his tether. 

2:33am 7/7/2024 Disorderly Leelanau Twp., Caller reporting intoxicated female drove a golf cart into their yard. Now being disorderly. She is trying to leave but golf cart is stuck. Caller could not get her name, she was being uncooperative. 

3:53pm 7/7/2024 Family Trouble Empire Twp., Boyfriend, Chrysler, refusing to get in the car because caller has been drinking. 

12:46pm 7/8/2024 Animal Control Empire Twp., Neighbor’s guinea fowl comes onto his property and then one or more of his dogs “gets loose” and chases the birds. 

4:54pm 7/8/2024 Animal Control Leelanau Cty., Hot dog in a car. White Rav-4. Patrolling the area but so far unable to locate the vehicle. Will take one more pass. 

6:03pm 7/8/2024 Animal Control Suttons Bay Twp., Walking her dog near this address and found green plastic bag with dog feces that someone was kind enough to pick up but then left the bag behind. Would like to speak with Animal Control about it.
