The Leelanau Ticker is back with a look at the most alarming, offbeat, or otherwise newsworthy calls to the Leelanau Office of Emergency Management/911 dispatch. The following is excerpted from the June 24 to July 1 call reports.

9:21am 6/24/2024 Animal Control Cedar, Missing dog, small 10 year old pomchi, male, brown, no collar, “Charlie” missing since Saturday.

6:43am 6/25/2024 Neighbor Leelanau Cty., Neighbor is taking down his no trespassing signs, he also keeps trespassing on his property. 

9:18am 6/26/2024 Animal Control Northport, Dog ran off around 3pm yesterday from the park, chihuahua black and tan female “Ruby” no collar or tags.

12:47pm 6/26/2024 Civil Leelanau Cty., Younger male tried to steal jet ski. He is still within sight of the dock on the jet ski. Subject with the jet ski is back, jet ski has been returned.

9:28am 6/27/2024 Misc Juvenile Leelanau Cty., Son is being disrespectful.

2:02pm 6/27/2024 WC Found Empire Twp., Boat broke loose from anchor rope, in front of caller’s neighbor's house, not secured, in front of house just west of caller’s address.

2:16am 6/28/2024 Suspicious Person N West-Bay Shore Dr., Can hear loud yelling south of the residence, she was arguing with her children about chores in the house, verbal only, not physical. 

2:31pm 6/28/2024 Larceny Elmwood Twp., Stole property in barn, lawnmower and more items. Was supposed to get toolboxes but took other items.

7:35pm 6/28/2024 Suspicious Incident Lake Leelanau, Caller saw three kids walking around Lake Leelanau Village, was worried because there weren’t any parents around. 

3:08pm 6/29/2024 Water Rescue Sleeping Bear Point Trl., Calling for help in the water a couple hundred yards out, back paddling face up can barely see in scope. US Coast Guard sector Lake Michigan notified. ENR to Lake Street for original victim, Coast Guard helicopter on scene. Prepare and launch from Leland, if conditions become hazardous return to Leland. Waves are beginning to increase, will be enroute back to Leland.

1:43am 6/30/2024 Suspicious Incident Leelanau Cty., Caller can hear footsteps on the roof and around the house. Caller called back and advised that there was no one around and if anything changes she will call back but does not need law enforcement at this time.

11:01am 6/30/2024 Animal Control Bingham Twp., Dog wandering in neighborhood, tan 60-70lbs, collar.

7:15pm 6/30/2024 Larceny Empire Twp., Farmstand in front of house, folks showed up on motorcycle and grabbed $80-100 worth of goods. 

9:26pm 7/1/2024 Family Trouble S West-Bay Shore Dr., Dark blue dodge charger chasing a female who is yelling "help me" and "call the police".

11:10pm 7/1/2024 Suspicious Incident Leelanau Cty., Caller heard some sort of noise she has never heard before outside near her trampoline. She thought it might be a kid yelling or it could be an animal, she would just like her property checked near the trampoline. Checked the property and could not hear anything.
