The Latest Leelanau County Blotter & 911 Call Report

The Leelanau Ticker is back with a look at the most alarming, offbeat, or otherwise newsworthy calls to the Leelanau Office of Emergency Management/911 dispatch. The following is excerpted from the April 9 to April 15 call reports.

11:22am 4/9/2024 Citizen Assist Cedar, Caller was driving by and saw landscaping crews blowing debris into the road, not sure if they were leaving it in the road or not but had questions about the legality of that. 

7:28pm 4/9/2024 Info Leelanau Cty., Woman was taking “the back way home” when she passed by the condos and two young boys were throwing rocks near the road. 

10:15am 4/10/2024 Suspicious Incident Elmwood Twp., Someone coming into condo while he is gone. Caller had the door knob lock pushed one way and when he came home it was on backwards. 

8:40pm 4/11/2024 Citizen Assist Leland Twp., Downstairs neighbors are fighting.

3:45pm 4/12/2024 Traffic Violation Leland Twp., Caller passed small maroon vehicle with something holding down the trunk that was swerving and going very slowly. 

12:30pm 4/13/2024 Fire Structure Maple City, Fire in caller’s attic last night but it is out now and wants it checked; no smoke or flames now.

7:19pm 4/13/2024 Citizen Assist Leland, There is a bear behind the park, caller is worried, seems to be “acting weird”. 

3:58am 4/14/2024 Threats Lake Leelanau Caller received threatening text. Wanted it put on the record.Spoke with 45-15.

9:47am 4/14/2024 MDOP S West-Bay Shore Dr., Caller reporting fence ripped off the fence post and damage to the actual fencing, tire marks leading up to the fence. 

6:36pm 4/14/2024 Animal Control Elmwood Twp., Missing Britney, orange and white, no collar, missing about an hour. 

1:38pm 4/15/2024 Animal Control Leelanau Cty., Found a dead goat behind his house.

2:21pm 4/15/2024 Animal Control Lake Leelanau, Pit mix, male, brindle dog was running around Lake Leelanau.
