The Leelanau Ticker is back with a look at the most alarming, offbeat, or otherwise newsworthy calls to the Leelanau Office of Emergency Management/911 dispatch. The following is excerpted from the November 26 to December 2 call reports.

8:46pm 11/26/2024 Fire W Traverse Lake Rd., Caller heard a smoke alarm going off in boathouse, it is filled with smoke, no flames seen.

9:36am 11/27/2024 Welfare Check Leelanau Cty., Caller drives to work every day and has not seen individual in 6 weeks and is concerned. Would like a welfare check. 

4:54pm 11/27/2024 Animal Control Elmwood Twp., Caller’s dog got loose out the front door. Individual got bit and left.

5:14pm 11/27/2024 Suspicious Person Leelanau Cty., Person on the side of the road crouched down, backpack and yellow hat, unknown if male or female.

2:42pm 11/28/2024 Animal Control Suttons Bay Twp., Cat ran off last night, male, thin, tabby cat, no collar. 

4:31pm 11/28/2024 Welfare Check N West-Bay Shore Dr., Got this report direct about someone slumped over in a golf cart near this intersection.

12:09am 11/29/2024 Suspicious Incident S West-Bay Shore Dr., Caller is trying to sleep and he saw a flashlight outside his window. He would like a deputy to take a look around. Walked around the house, no footprints or evidence that anyone was near the house.

12:49pm 11/29/2024 Animal Control Suttons Bay Twp., Evicted tenant, they left a dog behind. Called back, dog is in a kennel. Talked with neighbors who said the tenants are enroute back for the dog. 

8:12pm 11/30/2024 Threats Suttons Bay Twp., Caller receiving Facebook messenger threats from someone who used to live on property.

3:26pm 12/1/2024 Citizen Assist Cedar, Subject wanted help, someone was stalking her, refused to be seen. Response canceled. 

2:41am 12/2/2024 Animal Control Leelanau Twp., Caller says that neighbor’s dog has been barking for about 45 minutes, caller took a recording of it. Has spoken with police in the past and tried to resolve it with his neighbor. Would like to speak with someone again as soon as possible. 

11:35am 12/2/2024 Civil Leelanau Cty., Caller made deposit to a company in April, work was supposed to start in May but it never occurred. Caller has been contacted by the company about delays but they never showed up to reschedule either. Company agreed to reimburse the caller. 

5:21pm 12/2/2024 Abandoned Vehicle Elmwood Twp., Someone dropped a trailer at her driveway around 3:45pm and there is no plate on it. Left a message with owner, he accidentally put it in front of the wrong house. Will move it as soon as possible. 

5:57am 12/3/2024 Suspicious Incident Greilickville Twp., Caller is reporting a man in dark clothing and no reflective gear, walking too close to the road. Saw him do it yesterday too.
