The Latest Leelanau County Blotter & 911 Call Report

The Leelanau Ticker is back with a look at the most alarming, offbeat, or otherwise newsworthy calls to the Leelanau Office of Emergency Management/911 dispatch. The following is excerpted from the November 12 to November 19 call reports.

2:03pm 11/12/2024 Suspicious Incident Leelanau Cty., Noticed rear window of truck is shattered but still intact in the frame. Met with caller, there does appear to be evidence of malicious behavior. 

5:41pm 11/12/2024 Animal Control Lake Leelanau, Wife picked up 2 dogs, female white labs without collars. 

8:53am 11/13/2024 Info Leelanau Cty., Caller was last home yesterday at 5pm and the door was still open. Individual was in caller’s yard yesterday and he is possibly trying to squat in caller’s house. Caller is concerned there are unwanted people in her house. Requesting the house be periodically checked until she returns home. 

12:54pm 11/14/2024 Leave Scene MVC Elmwood Twp., Caller believes her vehicle was hit in the parking lot last night, occurred yesterday after 11am and before 6pm. No debris from another vehicle.

5:56pm 11/14/2024 Citizen Assist N West-Bay Shore Dr., Ex-boyfriend took $20 from her, wants it back so she can go home. 

2:17pm 11/15/2024 Scam Leelanau Cty., Computer scam. But also spoke on the phone with scammers, caller gave personal information. No money was lost but gave approximate balances of accounts. 

4:00pm 11/15/2024 Suspicious Incident Leelanau Cty., Man walking around posing as a park ranger, was hitting trees trying to scare wildlife from the hunters. Out with the subject. 

3:59am 11/16/2024 Info Leelanau Cty., 2 young people came and knocked loudly then ran west. Caller just wants it noted, will call if it happens again. 

2:01am 11/17/2024 Suspicious Incident Northport, Caller says that someone knocked loudly on her door, happened about 3 nights ago. Didn’t hear a car or see anyone. Caller does not need to be seen but would like someone to check the area. 

11:42am 11/17/2024 Suspicious Incident Northport, Window is wide open on the second floor room. Next to the dining room subject is dropping items out of the window onto the ground. 

12:17pm 11/18/2024 Info E Cherry Bend Rd., Male throwing all his garbage into the caller’s dumpster. Drives a minivan. Been going on for a month, wants subject to know, no dumping. 

12:37pm 11/18/2024 Neighbor Suttons Bay Twp., Neighbors tore up the fence and moved property. Informational report, survey company coming out tomorrow. 

3:50am 11/19/2024 Alarm Leelanau Cty., Doors are open. Making entry into the building. Clearing the building. Building is secure, found another open door and secured it. 

4:07am 11/19/2024 Disorderly Leelanau Cty., Some sort of altercation on the property.
