The Latest Leelanau County Blotter & 911 Call Report

The Leelanau Ticker is back with a look at the most alarming, offbeat, or otherwise newsworthy calls to the Leelanau Office of Emergency Management/911 dispatch. The following is excerpted from the November 5 to November 11 call reports.

12:37am 11/5/2024 911 Hangup S West-Bay Shore Dr., 911 hangup, female made a noise and hung up. Unable to call back. There is a dog barking inside, no one coming to the door. Contact made through window. Claiming there were people here earlier, they aren't there now and she is okay.

3:31pm 11/5/2024 Dispatch Deer E Traverse Hwy., A deer that appears stunned has been standing in the same spot for several hours. Is going to be dispatched. 

10:26am 11/6/2024 Suspicious Incident Centerville Twp., Saw a man in a white pickup, driving along S Lakeshore, stopping and entering onto private property to remove Harris/Wallace signs while leaving Trump/Vance signs in same area. 

6:02am 11/7/2024 Citizen Assist Leland Twp., Neighbor has been digging ditches on the side of road near caller’s house, road commissioner has regarded the area and the neighbor was not supposed to touch the area again but she did. Caller said that she fell this morning and would like to speak to someone about it. Spoke with caller, does sound like neighbor has been making changes to the side of the road when she has been asked not to. Ongoing drainage issue that those affected are trying to mitigate on their own. Have been referred to drain commissioner. 

6:42pm 11/7/2024 Suspicious Person S West-Bay Shore Dr., Guy in drive, walked across lawn. Confronted him– said he could do whatever he wanted. Got in car, drove towards caller, said he is going to come back. 

3:49pm 11/8/2024 Disorderly Elmwood Twp., Caller advised an individual just got out of jail and is causing issues at the residence.

5:46am 11/9/2024 MDOP Bingham Twp., Caller’s cousin had a rock thrown through her windshield.  

4:57pm 11/9/2024 Animal Control Lake Leelanau, Caller advised his neighbor’s dog goes to the bathroom on his property. He contacted the owners who are going to clean it up, but he would like to speak to Animal Control about this. 

11:51pm 11/9/2024 Suspicious Person Cedar, Caller has someone in his woods, 2 flashlights. Tried to speak with subjects but they walked away.

4:02am 11/10/2024 Suspicious Incident Bingham Twp., Initial call from caller stating that person was calling and threatening to come to their apartment tonight, threatening him and his whole family.

9:15pm 11/11/2024 Fire Lines Arcing Lake Leelanau, Transformers in wooded area between this home and neighbor’s is sparking/flaming. Active fire on top of pole. Going pole to pole.
