The Leelanau Ticker is back with a look at the most alarming, offbeat, or otherwise newsworthy calls to the Leelanau Office of Emergency Management/911 dispatch. The following is excerpted from the October 29 to Nivember 3 call reports.
11:36am 10/29/2024 Suspicious Incident Leelanau Cty., Caller has left for their winter house but they can see on their cameras there are two males and a truck in their driveway for the last 15 minutes, white crew cab, possibly a suburban, spoke to them straight through the camera and they insisted the caller hired them for some work and the caller told them he did not. Asked them to leave the property but they were refusing. Still there but at the end of the driveway. No vehicles in the driveway, just taking a look around the house. House was secure, doors all locked.
12:20pm 10/29/2024 Info Leelnand, Individual posted something on Facebook Marketplace that looks like meth making supply. Not meth making equipment.
10:35am 10/30/2024 Harassment Cedar, Transfer from GTCO. Female threatening the caller. Caller is the property manager. Female screaming at them and throwing sticks and leaves at the workers. Nothing physical. Per 45-23 with this incident and the incident yesterday, the property manager will speak with his boss about pursuing harassment charges if this continues.
3:12pm 10/30/2024 Trespassing Leelanau Cty., Some strange male sitting in a chair in caller’s front yard asleep. No strange vehicles around but caller noticed a backpack and plastic bag in the front yard. One in custody on warrant.
1:01pm 10/31/2024 Civil Suttons Bay Twp., Representative of nonprofit destroyed their website.
1:22pm 11/1/2024 Animal Control Empire Twp., Heard a dog barking at this address, stopped and checked, dog is locked in a horse trailer, appears to be abandoned.
1:43pm 11/2/2024 Illegal Burn Lake Leelanau, Neighbors are burning plastic in a barrel. Homeowner arrived, given educational material about what is proper to burn.
2:43pm 11/3/2024 Missing Persons Kasson Twp., Wife left home about a half hour ago, usually walks to neighbors. When she didn’t return, checked the neighbor’s and no one was home. Uncertain which direction she may have headed after that. Requested a drone from GTCO if available. GTB Fire will respond with the drone.
3:12pm 11/3/2024 Citizen Assist Cedar, Caller would like a law enforcement response because she doesn’t feel safe with the neighbors. Met with caller, she is okay.
