Property Watch: A Crow’s Nest In The County (Designed By Renowned Architect Roger Hummel)
By Emily Tyra | May 2, 2022
A soaring architectural feat in Suttons Bay designed by local architect Roger Hummel in the late 1980s (416 N. School Hill Court; $1,499,000; MLS# 1898987) hit the market last week.
The Suttons Bay-based architect is also known for designing Falling Waters Lodge at the dam in Leland, and a famed 27-room masterpiece, Pine Hollow, on East Bay near Elk Rapids.
The interior of another beachy Hummel-designed landmark on West Bay looks like the inside of a 17th century ship.
From this particular perch on 3.6 acres in Suttons Bay, his open concept floor plan allows mix-and-match flexibility of the spaces, plus take-your-breath-away panoramas of the village and the bay, Stony Point, Old Mission Peninsula, and East Bay beyond.
Listing agent Kyle Jean of Exit Realty Paramount shares that Hummel “put an emphasis on impeccable craftsmanship and taking advantage of the peace and serenity of the property,” adding “The view from every level is tremendous — and wait until you see the vantage point from the crow’s nest.”
