Leelanau Conservation District Fall Conifer Sale Underway Now

Aug. 24, 2022

Fall is the time to plant pines, and the Leelanau Conservation District has high-quality and affordable native conifers available to the public, as it continues to promote the wise use of Leelanau's natural resources and to help restore and improve natural habitats for future generations.

According to northern Michigan’s Conservation Resource Alliance,  “beyond their immediate impact, trees are the most efficient and cost-effective method of carbon sequestration to date and our best defense against a changing climate. From reducing runoff and flooding, filtering pollutants, providing shade and habitat to overall increased resiliency for people, wildlife, and our precious water bodies alike — trees play an integral role in each of our lives.”

The Leelanau Conservation District (LCD) fall conifer sale selection includes starter trees and transplants of various native varieties; the order form is on the website. Email, mail, or drop the form off at the LCD office, 8527 E. Government Center Dr., Suite 205, Suttons Bay. Order by September 30th and pick up on October 14th at the Leelanau Enterprise. For more information call 231-256-9783 or email klong@leelanau.gov.
