
Iconic Shimek Farm Protected By Conservancy

The iconic Shimek farm at the corner of M-72 and 669 will be preserved in perpetuity, thanks to the Leelanau Conservancy. The second generation, 232-acre dairy and corn farm has been placed in a conservation easement to protect it from development with additional help from the Regional Conservation Partnership Program of the Natural Resources Conservation Service and individual donors.
