Fishtown 5K Goes Virtual With Theme “Seiche Happens”
May 21, 2020
Fishtown Preservation Society announced this week that the 12th Annual Friends of Fishtown 5K will happen—virtually—with a tongue-in-cheek theme: “Given the unpredictable nature of water levels and other events over the past year, the theme of ‘Seiche Happens’ seems very fitting,” says executive director Amanda Holmes. (A seiche is a temporary oscillation in the water level of a lake or partially enclosed body of water.)
Register by June 22 to get all the swag. The race packet will include a t-shirt (yes, it will say ‘Seiche Happens’) race bib, event logo sticker and instructions — all the essentials needed to complete the race between July 18 and July 31.
Holmes continues, “All proceeds from the race go towards preserving your beloved Fishtown. Record high water levels have created an urgent need to preserve our docks and some of our shanties. Run or walk in your neighborhood, a nature trail, a treadmill, on the beach, or even laps around the back yard. Regardless of your location, we hope you will complete the race with Fishtown in your heart.”
Registration for this event is now open and is $35.
