Bunek Victory Holds After Recount
Nov. 27, 2024
Republican Will Bunek is the official winner of the Leelanau County Board of Commissioners District 3 seat, holding on to a slim 6-vote lead over Democrat challenger Lois Bahle.
County Clerk Michelle Crocker tells The Ticker that the vote total did not change after an official recount conducted Tuesday. Bunek won by 1,325 votes to Bahle's 1,319.
The race was one of several that flipped after apparent victorties on election night, as a batch of early votes were not properly counted.
Bahle and Bunek have an interesting history, with Bunek being previously recalled.
