Average Home Price In Leelanau County Skyrockets To $702,780 In September
By Ross Boissoneau | Oct. 12, 2022
The number of residential sales was unchanged in the county last month, but demand remains high. The 47 sales last month netted $33,030,661, while the same number in September 2021 brought in $28,016,120. That means the average home price skyrocketed to $702,780, compared to $596,087 for September 2021. The number of homes sold for any September topped out at 89 in 2020; average sale prices were all below $500,000 prior to last year.
Another marker of the current market: the number of days a home is on the market before selling. The average was well over 100 the past several years, and over 200 in 2012. It was still at 105 in September 2021, but last month dropped to 46. That number was easily the lowest for any of the five counties served by Aspire North Realtors.
For the first three quarters of the year, there have been 277 homes sold in Leelanau. That is the lowest number dating back to 2012. Last year at this time there had been 406 homes sold in the county. Again, however, demand continues to push prices upward. Total sales of $209,684,120 produced an average sale price of $756,982. The average for 2021 year-to-date was $569,335, based on a dollar volume of $231,150,235.
