Weiner Ski Returns to Shady Lane
An event combining hearty comfort food and scenic skiing returns to a local winery next month.
"The team at Shady Lane Cellars is teaming up with Suttons Bay Bikes and Leelanau Cheese Company to host its winter event, Wiener Ski, on Feb. 1," a spokeperson for Shady Lane said in an email. "The event has a little something for everyone - a 5K cross country ski and hiking trail that links right up to the TART Trail from the tasting room door, a 1.5 K trail made for snow shoeing, live music and plenty of comfort food and drinks."
Nik Basford of Leelanau Cheese Company will be on site making beer brats on a pretzel bun with sauerkraut, whole grain mustard and topped with melted raclette. Suttons Bay Bikes will bring rental skis and snowshoes right on site to make it easy to enjoy the trails. And the team at Shady Lane Cellars will offer wines, tastings, as well as "cozy drinks" like mulled wine or hot chocolate.
The event runs from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Feb. 1. Click here for ski rentals, and keep an eye on the Shady Lane website for more information about the event.
