Leelanau County Sheriff's Office deputies and Glen Lake Fire and Rescue personnel responded to the scene of the crash at 6:50am at the intersection of South Plowman Road and M-72. An investigation determined that a 27-year-old Honor man was driving north on South Plowman Road and went through the signed intersection at M-72, crossing into the path of an eastbound car driven by a 19-year-old Honor man. The eastbound car struck the northbound car broadside, spinning it across the roadway and into a utility pole.

A 28-year-old female passenger in his car was also taken to Munson for treatment of minor injuries. The driver of the eastbound vehicle was also hospitalized for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. Both vehicles were extensively damaged in the crash.
