Property Watch: How Much Does A Boat Slip On West Bay Go For These Days?

It’s a seller’s market, even with boat slips, according to Stacy Allman of Keller Williams Northern Michigan, who shares that after listing a 30-foot boat slip in Harbor West Yacht Club (12775 S. Marina Village Drive, Unit 88; $90,000) on Monday, “it is now a 48-hour feeding frenzy.”

There is a somewhat legendary list of boaters waiting for a slip on West Bay. Last spring, the Traverse City Ticker touched base with harbormasters at Duncan L. Clinch Marina and Harbor West. The former had a waitlist more than 280 names deep for its 71 seasonal boat slips, and was advising a 5 to 7 year wait time for new applicants. The latter described a waitlist “so long we are no longer taking names.”

Forgoing the list, Allman’s client decided test the waters in the open market. In addition to coveted space for a yacht, the $90,000 slip price includes dockside hook up to electric, cable and water and owner privileges that include use of the lounge, laundry, bathrooms and kitchen at Harbor West.

Allman expects to have an accepted offer by today at 5pm.

Boaters who miss that window, know there is one other slip up for grabs at Harbor West: It came on the market one week ago for $95,000.
