Old Art Building Announces Spring Entertainment Series
The Old Art Building in Leland has announced that its historic Big Room “will be alive with music and drama all spring long,” with five entertainment events scheduled between next week and the end of June. The events calendar is as follows.
Thursday, April 24: Seth Bernard
Local singer/songwriter Seth Bernard will take the OAB stage for a special “nature/earth themed concert marking Earth Week.” Doors open at 6:30pm and the show starts at 7pm.
Saturday, May 10: Cousin Curtiss
A two-man band described as “blues at bluegrass speeds,” Cousin Curtiss are slated to perform from 7-9pm on May 10, with doors opening at 6:30pm.
Sunday, May 18: The Belle of Amherst: A One-Woman Play
Actress Sara Hartley will play the role of Emily Dickinson in this classic William Luce play, which uses Dickinson’s poetry, diaries, and letters “to recollect her encounters with the significant people in her life.” Doors open at 4:30pm, with the play set to run from 5-6:30pm.
Jon Muq is a singer-songwriter who hails from Uganda, though he now resides in Austin, Texas. Muq will bring his collision of African and western musical sounds to the OAB on June 18, with doors opening at 6:30pm and the concert starting at 7pm.
Saturday, June 28: Six Mile Strings
The OAB ends its spring series with Six Mile Strings, a Detroit-based string quartet who perform both classical and contemporary pieces. The group, which has performed at the OAB on two prior occasions, is back by popular demand for this 7-8:30pm show. Doors open at 6:30pm.
