Leland’s New Athletic Booster Club Hosts Free Film Capturing Lady Comets Legacy

The Performing Arts Center at Leland Public School is hosting a film premiere to launch the Leland Comets Legacy Fund (LCLF), an athletic booster club. This is a free event organized by founding LCLF volunteers including Jeff Keen, who played high school tennis and soccer before graduating from Leland Public School in 1998.

The short film by LPS alumn Glen Petersen, Through Glass Eyes... The Leland Glass Legacy, follows the story of coach Larry Glass and girls basketball at Leland Public School in the 1970s and 80s. It features recent interviews from former players and area coaches that highlight the team’s quick rise from inception to three-time state champions.

After the 25-minute film there will be a social gathering where people can share stories, look through old yearbooks, and learn more about the Leland Comet Legacy Fund and the Leland Comets.

The screening is Thursday, December 2 at 7pm. The event is free, however tickets need to be reserved in advance. Register here.
