The Leelanau Ticker is back with a look at the most alarming, offbeat, or otherwise newsworthy calls to the Leelanau Office of Emergency Management/911 dispatch. The following is excerpted from the February 18 to February 24 call reports.

12:15pm 2/18/2025 Neighbor Suttons Bay Twp., Caller reporting neighbor pushed snow into her yard, caller concerned there is damage to the yard. Caller not home right now, but her other neighbor advised her of the situation. 

10:52am 2/19/2025 Animal Control Leelanau Twp., Dog grabbed clothing. 

7:58pm 2/19/2025 Road Hazard Leland Twp., Caller is advising that the person at this address is moving snow onto M22. Caller told him to stop and remove it but he is refusing to. Majority of the snow has been removed from the roadway and it’s no longer a hazard.

6:44pm 2/20/2025 Info Elmwood Twp., Grayish black Honda Civic parked, driver was just reclined in the seat. Has been circling the area since then, concerned because there have been break-ins. Caller does not need contact but would like some extra patrols. 

6:49pm 2/20/2025 Fire Structure Cedar, House fully engulfed, 2 stories, unknown if anyone inside. Fully engulfed, occupants are at the road. Per command all animals and occupants out of structure, completing 360. Road ENR shortly, Cherryland notified. Two lines trying to get a third. Just had a flare up. Still working on some hotspots. Got most of the fire knocked down but we will be working for a while.

2:03am 2/21/2025 Fire Structure Cedar, Caller sees flames from the structure fire from earlier. There is a flare up. Fire in the attic, there is a line stretched trying to extinguish. Fire knocked down, checking for hot spots. 

3:48pm 2/21/2025 Animal Control Leelanau Cty., Barn collapsed with cattle inside. Going to investigate. Rescue going to be going on a while.

10:49am 2/22/2025 Animal Control S Timberlee Dr., There has been a dog hanging around the Timberlee area for a couple days. Husky/shepherd mix, female, no collar. Went to house where there were at least three dogs, some had quills. All look in poor condition. 

1:44pm 2/23/2025 Alarm Bingham Twp., Appears someone was there and left based on fresh tracks in the snow. Doesn’t appear to be anyone home but the garage door is open, no cars inside. Dog inside the house and wet spots in the garage. Will leave a business card for the resident explaining the sequence of events. Daughter set off the alarm. Didn’t know what to do so she just left. 

12:16am 2/24/2025 Fire Vehicle Solon Twp., Caller’s truck is in the middle of the field at his house, it is now burned, possibly an electrical fire. Truck is not near any other structures, caller drove his tractor out, there is a small flame still within the frame of the truck. Per command, vehicle is “toasted”.
